This pasta bake is so easy to make (just 4 easy steps and takes less than 45 minutes to make). It's perfect for serving a large crowd or a Sunday night dinner and can easily be made ahead!
Brown the beef.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the beef and onion until browned.
Add the tomato sauce to the beef and simmer.
Stir in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer, uncovered, for about 20 minutes.
Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce.
Cook pasta according to package directions, a little less cooked than al dente. Add pasta to beef mixture and gently stir.
Sprinkle with cheeses and bake.
Transfer to an ungreased 13x9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with the cheeses and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through.

2 pounds ground beef
1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
2 (14 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
2 pounds dry penne
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
